Pete is a veteran attorney and former equity finance consultant. Over the past 10 years, he has been involved in NMTC transactions delivering more than $1.5 billion in total investment to underserved areas.

Prior to joining Advantage Capital, Pete was a director at one of the largest regional accounting firms in the U.S. In a previous role as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at S.B. Phillips Co., Inc., he served as legal counsel, oversaw financial departments, and worked closely with top executives to define business strategies while providing legal advice on specific issues. After beginning his career in the largest Greenville, SC-based law firm at the time, he led a 1031 tax-deferred exchange company in a national expansion. For more than nine years, he led his own law firm, Byford Law LLC.

Pete received his L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver, a J.D. from the University of South Carolina, and a B.A. in English Literature from The Citadel.
