NEW ORLEANS & ST. LOUIS – Advantage Capital, venture capital firm, small business lender and impact investor, announced the expansion of its senior leadership team with the addition of finance industry veteran, Cindy Colvin, as Managing Director. With more than 20 years of sales, tax credit and commercial real estate experience, Colvin brings her leadership and vision to Advantage Capital to oversee a talented team continuing to expand the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) business across the U.S.
“We are thrilled to bring on a thoughtful, experienced and dynamic leader like Cindy to help accelerate our ability to finance affordable homes in distressed communities,” said Steven Stull, President, Advantage Capital. “Cindy shares our commitment to driving capital to underserved areas and she has the industry acumen to sharpen our business and help manage our growth.”
Colvin comes to Advantage Capital from Truist Bank. For much of her career there, she ran the business development arm of its LIHTC debt platform, leading the bank’s debt team and collaborating with its equity group to close billions of dollars of LIHTC investments. More recently, she managed the bank’s corporate real estate (CRE) underwriting group. From beginning her career in banking as part of an analyst training program 20 years ago, to managing a team of more than 100 underwriters administering a portfolio of more than $30 billion in CRE assets, Colvin has focused on results and positive impact.
“Advantage has worked with Cindy since 2013 on some of our most important and enabling debt facilities,” said Jonathan Goldstein, Managing Director, Advantage Capital. “We are excited to bring her leadership and drive to our affordable housing platform, accelerating this critical work we’re doing to support underserved communities.”
Advantage Capital has financed more than 9,000 housing units, bringing quality, affordable homes to nearly 14,000 residents. Colvin will help deepen the firm’s impact in fighting our nation’s housing affordability crisis.
Colvin holds an MBA from Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and a B.A. in finance and marketing from Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida.
